The U.S. military's growing interest in commercial cloud services is probably to be expected. The virtues of the cloud in general are well known: Flexibility, scalability, ease of maintenance and lower costs. Throw in commercial cloud's ready-made architecture, with crucial components already in place, and it's not hard to understand what makes commercial solutions a tempting proposition to some. "There are a lot of attractive features about it that we might be able to use to our benefit," said Kathleen Welker, a spokesperson at Army Recruiting Command. "We are very excited about the possibilities."
