Building and Construction Industry Payments Act 2004 (Qld)

Security of payment has been a pertinent issue in the building and construction industry for many years and in line with NSW and Victoria, Queensland introduced the Building and Construction Industry Payments Act 2004 (the Act) in May last year. The aim of the Act is to allow parties who have completed construction work to receive prompt payment and to enforce their payment rights. The Act imposes strict compliance requirements.
