摘要

The nature and magnitude of genetic variability was studied in 31 genotypes of gladiolus. The characters viz- number of cormels per plant, 5 cormels weight, corm weight, rachis length and length of spike showed high phenotypic and genotypic co-efficient of variation. The character like number of cormels per plant, 5 cormels weight, length of spike emerge and days to first floret bud opening, exhibited high heritability. Remaining characters had moderate to low heritability. Number of cormels per plant and 5 cormels weight per plant showed high heritability along with high genetic advance showing additive gene effect. Thus, the selection on the basis of number of cormels per plant, cormels weight per plant and corm weight will be more effective for further breeding programme.
