BHP signs up to Chinese iron ore e-trading platform

BHP Billiton has signed up to the China Beijing International Mining Exchange (CBMX) iron ore trading platform, which launches on May 8, meaning the four major global iron ore producers have now all committed to the trading system. “We have long advocated in favor of platforms that support transparency and liquidity, and welcome the opportunity to support and formally commit to such initiatives as GlobalOre and the China Spot Trading Platform,” Melbourne-based BHP spokeswoman Kelly Quirke told Platts Steel Business Briefing on Thursday.
