Australia's Gladstone port to suspend coal ship-loading

A planned strike by maritime workers-slated to start Friday-will prevent ships from loading coal exports for one week at Gladstone port in the Australian state of Queensland, a spokeswoman for Gladstone's port authority said Tuesday. The strike is being organized by ships masters, engineers and general maritime workers employed by SMIT Marine Australia which provides pilot and towing services to guide visiting ships into Gladstone port.
