Indian body recommends restriction of Goan mining

The Justice M.B. Shah Commission of Inquiry, a central government-appointed investigation into illegal iron ore mining across India, has recommended that ore production in the southwest state of Goa be capped at 12.5 million mt/year for “quality grades” with Fe content exceeding 55% in order to conserve ore for another 50 years.
