Eastern Chinese scrap prices slip, but still up on week

Following a significant increase onMonday, steel mills in eastern China cut theirferrous scrap buying prices in the latter half ofthe week on the back of a reversing domesticrebar market.On Friday, Platts assessed heavy meltingscrap with a thickness of 6 mm and above,including 17% VAT, at Yuan 1,690/mt ($261/mt) delivered to Zhangjiagang, Jiangsuprovince. This was up Yuan 70/mt ($11/mt)from a week earlier.
