Ukrainian coke plants buy coal to stop import ban

Ukrainian coke and chemical plants have agreed to buy out remaining stocks of domestically produced coking coal as part of a plan to help the government drop its possible restriction of coking coal imports, an industry source said Wednesday. The government has been considering restricting imports amid concerns that about 400,000 mt of Ukrainian-produced coking coal have accumulated at state coal mines.
