Dry bulk vessel demolitions in the first half of 2015 nearly doubled on year, but tonnage recycling is now losing its momentum as higher freight rates give shipowners an excuse to keep their vessels for longer. According to the latest data from Greece-based sale-and-purchase shipbroker Golden Destiny, the first half of 2015 saw 254 dry bulk vessels demolished, up 95% from the 130 ships scrapped in January-June 2014.
