US hard coking coal prices remained flat Monday, with many market players away at the Coaltrans conference. One European mill source said his company was not taking any spot material, suggesting the slight pickup in the Chinese steel market could be a result of government support rather than real fundamental demand. A source at one miner said he had some European inquiries, and had also heard a low-vol Australia FOB spot deal at $155/mt.
