Cyclone Lua could delay Port Hedland exports

Western Australia's Port Hedland was closed early Friday with the last vessel sent to sea at 0500 WST (2100 GMT Thursday), as a result of Cyclone Lua. Customers of miners loading iron ore from the port were informed of possible delays to shipments: BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Group all export from the port. BHP Billiton declined to disclose further information beyond a Thursday statement saying it was monitoring all cyclone activity closely and would shut mining operations if necessary.
