European coil import offers on the rise, HDG takes lead

While the domestic north European coil market remains quiet at the start of the year, the few to have returned to the fray this week were abuzz with talk of increasing offer prices from importers, primarily for hot-dip galvanized coil. A number of sources reported that Chinese offers for HDG were up by $30-40/metric ton with a Portuguese trader suggesting the Chinese were being joined by South Korea and India in looking to bolster their sales prices. Brazilian offers were said to have been increased by $20-30/mt.
