Fresh talks aimed at resolving a 16-month industrial dispute at seven BHP Billiton-Mitsubishi Alliance coal mines have gotten off toa conciliatory start as unions temporarily suspended their campaign of work stoppages, a union source close to the talks said Friday. Representatives from BMA and three Australian trade unions held talks Thursday and have split into smaller working groups to separately tackle issues that have held up the conclusion of a new three-year workplace agreement.
