The scrap import market in East Asia has been sluggish of late with thin trading activity. Bookings for containerized heavy melting scrap I/II (80/20) from the US took place at 390 dollars/mt CFR Taiwan during the week ended Friday (June 15), down 10 dollars/mt on week. “It is very silent here,” a Taiwanese trader said, suggesting many buyers were reluctant to take up 80/20 offers at 390 dollars/mt CFR because they were bidding at 380-385 dollars/mt CFR. “The market is still adopting a wait-and-see approach,” another trader said.
