BMA idles high cost Gregory met coal mine

BMA Asset president Stephen Dumble said production costs at the mine, in central Queensland's Bowen Basin, currently exceed the revenue from product sales, and the only option available to the company was to cease production. The mine has been impacted by falling commodity prices, high costs and a strong Australian dollar, BMA said. It is understood that some 300 jobs will go at the site.
