Prices for steelmaking pig iron in northern China have dropped by another Yuan 40/mt (6 dollars) from June 11, market sources told Platts Steel Business Briefing Tuesday. Prices are at Yuan 3,050-3,100/mt (479-487 dollars) on a delivered mill basis with 17% VAT, they said. Demand for pig iron has been weakened this month as Chinese steel producers have entered their routine mid-year maintenance period, market sources said.
