West Pilbara iron ore project won’t get nod till late 2016

The West Pilbara Iron Ore Project developed by Aurizon, Baosteel, Posco and AMCI, will not see a final investment decision until end-2016 under new plans delayed by iron ore price concerns, Aurizon said Monday. At the end of 2015, based on project economics and iron ore market views at the time, the group will determine whether to continue to complete definitive feasibility studies and a binding rail and port solution before a final decision a year later, Aurizon said in a statement. The project had been earmarked to start exporting in 2017/2018.
