Vietnam's billet, longs imports halt on safeguard fears

The Vietnamese ministry of industry & trade?s December 25 opening of an investigation into safeguard measures against imports of billet, wire rod and rebar has effectively stopped any new import business. The main petitioners which account for 34% of Vietnamese longs production - Hoa Phat Steel, Southern Steel, Thai Nguyen Iron & Steel and Viet Y Steel - have proposed safeguard duties of 33% for billet and 45% for long products.
