US scrap prices appear to be continuing their recent stability, as many market sources predicted. Steel Business Briefing sister company The Steel Index recorded a price of $456/long ton for shredded scrap, delivered mill, for last week. That's a $3/l.t increase from the previous week's price and up just $1/l.t from four weeks prior. Another published shredded scrap price used to determine surcharges on most US long products has remained at $450/l.t for the third month in a row (see related story).
