TSI iron ore reference price rises to highest since May

Iron ore prices opened September with a surge to a near-four-month high, breaking above $180/dry metric tonne for 62% Fe fines for the first time since early May. The latest daily reference prices released by The Steel Index (TSI) yesterday, Thursday, show that the price has moved slowly upwards during the past week. The reference price for 62% Fe content iron ore fines was $1.90/dmt, or 1.1%, higher than a week earlier and finished on Thursday at $180.40/dmt. Sellers continue to push their offer prices strongly, looking for further increases whenever buyers conclude, showing that demand remains firm.
