Angang to open shipbreaking yard by year's end

Northeastern China's steel giant Anshan Iron & Steel (Angang) is near to completing construction of its first ship repair and shipbreaking complex. The complex is expected to start operations before the end of this year, Platts Steel Business Briefing learned from the mill. The 100-hectare complex is located in Changxing Island of northeast China's Liaoning province, where Angang is based. It is being built by Dachuan Steel Industry Co, which is a joint venture established in January 2011 between Angang, China's Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC), and Singapore's Pacific International Lines.
