BlueScope using iron sands at Port Kembla plant

BlueScope Steel has begun using iron sands, imported from a captive operation in New Zealand, for the first time at its Port Kembla blast furnace, south of Sydney. The flat steel producer received the first shipment of around 120,000 mt of iron sands from Taharoa in New Zealand's North Island in April and the next shipment is due in August, a BlueScope spokesman said.
