Epoxide carbonylation represents a powerful synthetic method for the production of ring-expanded heterocycles in an atom-economical manner. Reactions involving the incorporation of carbon monoxide, particularly in the formation of new carbonyl-containing compounds, are among the most important industrial and synthetic transformations. The carbonylation of epoxides has received much interest in recent years and has been reviewed.
