Ratings agency Standard & Poor’s has downgraded Atlas Iron and said the Australian iron ore junior could use up its cash reserves within 12 months unless it makes a “structural improvement” to its operating efficiencies. S&P, which like Platts is a unit of McGraw Hill Financial, Wednesday lowered its credit rating on Atlas to “CCC” from “B-” and revised its outlook on the Perthbased company’s business to “vulnerable” from “weak.”
