Coking coal price mostly flat as demand matches supply

Spot coking coal prices in Asia were marginally lower Wednesday as a Panamax cargo of one of Australia's best coals was offered at a competitive rate. Platts assessed premium low-vol hard coking coal 50 cents lower at $148/mt FOB Australia, while second-tier HCC was unmoved at $131.50/mt. Australian premium low-vol and mid-vol were reported offered this week referring to Platts premium low-vol index, minus a small quality-related discount of 1-2%, an end-user said. The buyer expressed interest at a significantly lower price of $140/mt FOB, however.
