The government of Goa in southwest India has ordered a temporary suspension of all mining operations in the state effective September 11, Goa's directorate of mines and geology said in a notice late Monday. Mining operations in the state - which mostly comprise iron ore - are to remain suspended “until further orders,” the state's DMG said, but added that the move would not restrict the trading and transportation of ore already mined and stored, or in transit.
