摘要

It is well recognized that high cholesterol shows astrong correlation with cardiovascular disease (CVD)[1,2] and plays a major role in CVD risk-factorassessments [3]. Also, cholesterol-lowering drugs areincreasingly recommended for primary prevention ofCVD [4]. This knowledge is well established even ifcontrarian views exist suggesting bias in publicationand reporting, and alternative mechanisms of actionfor statins [5-7]. In line with these contrasting expla-nations Bathum et al. showed reverse correlationsbetween lipoprotein levels and mortality in a Danishobservational study [8].
