Three prime hard coal transactions failed to lift spot prices Tuesday amid widespread suggestions a major Chinese domestic miner planned to drop April prices by several dollars. Premium low-vol hard coking coal fell $0.50/mt day on day to be assessed at $102.50/mt CFR China Tuesday, equating to $94.85/mt FOB Australia netting back with Panamax freight. Prices for second-tier, mid-vol HCC were assessed unchanged over the same period at $95.75/mt CFR China.
