Coking coal steady despite abundant second-tier supply

Spot coking coal prices in Asia were reasonably steady Thursday despite abundant supply of second-tier coals, including Australian, Indonesian and North American material. Platts assessed premium low-vol and second-tier hard coking coals unchanged at 222.50 dollars/mt and 183 dollars/mt FOB Australia Thursday, respectively. No new trades were reported for premium HCCs, but indications pointed to a lack of movement.
