Atlas Iron taps US for iron ore funds with S&P rating

Armed with a newly awarded B+ credit rating from Standard & Poor's, Atlas Iron is tapping US investors for US$325 million to help fund development of its Australian iron ore projects. The Perth-based miner said it would add the loan facility, which closes mid-December, to the A$313 million (US$326 million) it already has in cash. The combined sum would allow it to complete development of its Mt Dove, Abydos and Mt Webber mines in the Pilbara, along with the expansion of its port facilities at Utah Point at Port Hedland.
