Sidor, Venezuela's largest steelmaker, restarted rebar production on Wednesday, the company said Friday. According to Sidor, the equipment had been ready since August 9, but maintenance personnel only allowed operations to resume on Wednesday. "Rolling line No. 2 resumed operations, while [rolling line] No. 1 is expected to be back online in the [coming] days," said Jose Bastardo, manager of the bar rolling area. The lines roll 12 mm rebar, the most commercially popular quality in the region.
