As Christmas Day approaches in my house there are three things that need attending to. First is Christmas spirit. When it comes to Christmas spirit I need to have a long, hard think about my attitude, according to Pearl. My disinclination to 'dress' the house for the Christmas season with tinsel, fairy lights and a neon Santa complete with reindeer on the roof causes problems most years. This year my insistence that we reject the tradition of killing a pine tree so that we can watch it slowly die inthe living room in favour of one I have had growing in a pot in the front garden all year was seen as nothing short of heresy.
