While the business model for a pay-TV service such as Premiere, BSkyB, Canal Digital, TPS or Canal Plus may seem clear, the attitude of free-to-air broadcasters to high-definition television may be more ambivalent, HDTV may be seen as something that increases production and distribution costs without adding anything to revenues.
