Concrete art

An in-situ concrete 'art wall' that depicts the story of Wanneroo is the stunning centerpiece of the West Australian city's new Council Chambers. Architect Woodhead International came up with the concept for the art wall in response to Council's brief for some kind of historic, story-telling statement about the district. The actual art forms incorporated into the 80-metre long curved wall came about after consultation with the local community and client. Concreto, a local design firm specialising in artistic feature applications for concrete, was selected to coordinate the design and selection of the images, and to come up with a method for incorporating them into the wall.
