摘要

The high risk of long-lasting new pain after surgery - persistent post-surgical pain (PPP) [1] can be reduced by extending high-quality acute pain management to the early days and weeks at home following discharge from hospital [2]. In this issue of the Scandinavian Journal of Pain Elina Tiippana and her co-workers in Eija Kalso's eminent clinical pain research group in Helsinki, confirm this important observation [3].
