INFLUENCING FACTORS OF INTER-ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS IN PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT: A STUDY OF THE UK UTILITY SECTOR

Programme management (PM) is a novel and growing application of management that enables multiple, inter-related projects to be managed collectively in contrast to traditional project management where projects are managed individually and in isolation. PM importance is increasing, particularly in the public sector, because of government promotion of PM. However, its novelty means PM is an under-researched organisational form. UK utility companies operate in heavily regulated environments and lack direct market competition, however, they still need to work collaboratively with supply partners.
