EFFECT OF A NEUROPROTECTIVE AGENT ON CEREBRAL ISCHEMIA REPERFUSION INJURY IN RAT

The aim of the present research was to investigate the protective effect of a new type nerves protectant WP1501 on cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury rat. 150 male SD rats were randomly selected and divided into six groups: sham group, model group, edaravone group (4.0 mg/kg) and WP1501 high-dose group (7.0 mg/kg), middle-dose (4.0 mg/kg) and low-dose group (1.0 mg/kg). Model rats are seriously injuried and infarct ratios in the model group were increased (P < 0.01 versus sham group). The neurological deficit scores and infarct ratios in three doses of WP1501 were significantly decreased (P < 0.01 versus model group), which is similar to edaravone, and the protection was enhanced in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, WP1501 improved neuronal degeneration and necrosis induced by ischemia reperfusion.
