Some biological features of Acer negundo L. in green plantations of Moscow.

Acer negundo L. in Moscow is represented by a wide range of life forms which are classified as "trees" according to I.G. Serebryakov. The inclinations and bends of the Acer negundo trunk should be considered as one of the features of its life strategy, which permits it to bring out the crown into favorable conditions. The high germinating ability of the seeds under the tree cover and the long period of their sprouting contribute to formation of multitier thickets that consist of closely arranged, differently inclined, and bent trees hazardous to humans and vehicles. The proportion of A. negundo trees on the streets and highways, in public gardens, on avenues, and in yards of Moscow on average is about 37%, but it may amount to 80% in some yards. The proportion of A. negundo male trees (53%) is slightly higher than that of female trees (47%).
