EU issues guidance on when a computer product is subject to the Toy Directive

The question about the applicability of the EU Toy Directive 2009/48/EC to electronic items like personal computers, consoles, and their peripherals has over the past few years caused confusion for manufacturers, importers and enforcers. To address this, the European Commission’s Directorate General Enterprise (DG-ENTR) issued a Guidance Document Number 16 ‘On the Application of the Directive on the Safety of Toys’ in July.
