EPA halts new uses of pesticides linked to bee decline

EPA said in an April 2 letter to pesticide producers that any new uses of clothianidin, dinotefuran, imidaclo-prid, and thiamethoxam will only be approved after completion of ongoing risk assessments and upon having a better understanding of possible threats to young and developing bees. The EPA asks manufacturers to pull out pending registrations for the four neonicoti-noids or delete any references to using the compounds outdoors.
