NFPA reports high number of sudden cardiac deaths among firefighters

QUINCY,MA-Between 1995 and 2004,nearly half of all firefighters who died from sudden cardiac death while on duty had known heart problems,according to a report published by the National Fire Protection Association.The report,published in the July/ August issue of the NFPA Journal,said study results indicate guidelines for fire department medical programs are not being followed.
