Assisting the disabled worker

In the last three years emergency planning has become a priority for many businesses,especially companies located in high-rise buildings.Yet despite the increased concern about preparedness and evacuation procedures,an important part of the process is still being overlooked:planning for people with disabilities.People tend to recognize visible impairments - a co-worker in a wheelchair,a person with cerebral palsy,an employee with blindness.Harder to spot are unseen conditions such as hearing loss,chronic fatigue syndrome or diabetes.Even more importantly,employers often don't consider that employees with these less-identifiable disabilities require special assistance in emergency situations.
