Reference selenium, copper, zinc and vitamins A, E and C serum values in dromedary camels.

Five groups of 6 each healthy dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius), aged 1, 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 and above 10 years old were used. Sera were analyzed for selenium, copper, zinc, vitamin A, E and C concentrations. One-way ANOVA showed no significant differences between specific serum parameters in any age group (p>0.05), Normal reference values in micro mol/L were 6.75+or-1.00 to 9.98+or-2.71 zinc, 6.58+or-1.07 to 12.43+or-2.69 copper, 0.15+or-0.00 to 0.16+or-0.01 selenium, 1.04+or-0.32 to 1.48+or-0.18 vitamin A, 572.52+or-148.04 to 929.29+or-239.65 vitamin C and 2.16+or-0.35 to 3.47+or-0.76 for vitamin E.
