1,1'-Diisocyanoferrocene and a Convenient Synthesis of Ferrocenylamine

The new ferrocene derivative 1,1'-diisocyanoferrocene was prepared in 50% isolated yield from the rection of 1,1'-diisoocyanoatoferrocene with formic acid followed by thermal decarboxylation and reaction with POCl_3/NH(i-Pr)_2. An improved synthesis route to ferrocenylamine involves lithiation of ferrocene with t-BuLi followed by reaction with #alpha#-azidostyrene and subsequent acidification.
