Grain quality characteristics of promising lowland rice cultures.

Ten lowland rice genotypes with higher yield potential were tested for their grain quality characteristics. Hatipanjari and Sabita were noted for their higher grain length (7.22 and 7.49 mm). Genotypes CR728-7-2-2, CR673-431 and CR673-475 gave morethan 69% head rice recovery. CN579-363-1, CN571-231-236-15-1 and CR626-26-14-1 possessed red grains and desirable cooking characteristics with respect to amylose content, alkali value, water uptake, volume expansion and grain elongation ratio.
