Synthesis and Properties of a New Range of Mixed-Donor Alkynyl Ferrocenophanes

The acid-catalyzed reaction of [l,l'-Fc{Co_2(CO)_6(mu:eta~2-C=CCMe_2OH)}_2] (Fc = Fe(eta~5-C_5H_4)_2) with a variety of dinucleophiles led to the formation in excellent yields of a novel range of ferrocenophanes containing a variety of donor atoms.The crystal structures of four of these new compounds are reported as well as the results of electrochemical studies of the new complexes.
