In vitro test showed the best compatibility of Trichoderma harzianum with captan (0.10 %). Seed treatment of autumn rice was (Cv. Gopinath) taken up with captan (0.10%) and T. harzianum slurry. Captan (0.10%) exhibited 58.2 % reduction of mycelial growth of Rhizoctonia solani and 7.2 % of T. harzianum. Soil amendment with S. aculeata (@ 51 ha~(-1) + FYM (@ 2.5 t ha~(-1)) was observed to be best in enhancing total fungal, bacterial and lowering R. solani population after 60 days of transplanting in experimental plots. S. aculeata + FYM amended plots also recorded the lowest sheath blight incidence (14.3%) and the highest grain yield (31.7 q ha~(-1))- The effect of seed + root dip, under the above treatment resulted in significantly lowest incidence of disease (9.1 %) and was found at par with FYM treatment (10.1 %).
