Adaptability of local rice cultivars for successive cropping system under rainfed upland situation

摘要

An attempt has been made to define the physiological basis for raising two -rice crops successively in ahu (March-July) and sail (July-October) seasons under rainfed upland situation. Seedling emergence potentiality and the crop stand are not limitations at any given environmental situation. Sail crop yielded at par or more than the ahu crop by having longer grain filling period and efficient use of total solar radiation available during such phase. The dry matter partitioning efficiency in local cultivars like Rangadoria, Maghi and Nipak was more than 50% after panicle initiation in both the environments. Thus, such local cultivars can advantageously be used by the farmers of North Bank Plains Zoneof Assam as two successive crops both in ahu and sail seasons.
