In rice heterosis over mid and better parents in 42 crosses was worked out for 12 physiological characters including grain yield. Magnitude of heterosis was more for leaf area at early stage, total biological yield and grain yield while it was comparatively low for leaf photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance and harvest index. Top three heterotic crosses over their respective better parents for each trait were identified.
