Segregation analysis and estimation of genetic parameters for some quality traits in F_2 generation in rice

Analysis of segregation for quantitative traits like grain weight, kernel size and shape in F_2 population of four crosses : Gaurav x RR 2-6, UPR 103-30-6 x RR 2-6, Aus 454 x Vandana and Aus 454 x RR 203-16 revealed wide transgressive segregation. Thecharacters showed high broad-sense heritability with high to moderate genetic advance. Aroma in the cross Gaurav x RR 2-6 was dominant. The correlations between grain weight, size and shape indicated the possibility of combining high grain weight with long and slender grains.
